Swipe left or swipe, right? If you are in the dating world, you get to choose the type of person you want to date by simply swiping left or right. And although you may be aware of what type of person you want to date, there are other things you may not be as familiar with— including breast implants. Even though breast implants are a common cosmetic procedure that patients elect to get, it still leaves people wondering about things such as, what type of implant to get. During your initial consultation at our office, we will go over all of your options including whether you want saline or silicone implants. But what are the unique differences and similarities between these types of implants?

Saline

You may have heard of saline spray to clean out your sinuses but did you also know that you can use saline for breast implants? Saline or salt water is popular amongst patients for a variety of reasons including that it’s a natural solution and that breast implant leaks are easily detectable. One unique aspect of saline implants is that we fill them with saline after the implant has been placed— which gives our surgeons a bit more flexibility in making sure that you get the right size of implant for your body type. One thing to consider with saline implants is that they are typically a little firmer in texture compared to silicone.

Silicone

Silicone has gained great popularity amongst breast augmentation patients because its texture mimics that of body fat which leaves patients with a more natural feeling implant. Unlike saline implants that are filled during your surgery, silicone implants are prefilled which means that you will be able to feel the exact difference in size from the implant to implant.

There are many benefits to getting a breast augmentation including a more balanced appearance and a better self-esteem. Choosing the right breast implant for you may feel like a difficult decision to make, but our staff will be there every step of the way. Schedule your breast augmentation consultation at our Falls Church office today!
